THIS IS IMPORTANT.

THIS IS SO IMPORTANT BECAUSE IT HAPPENS TO ME SO OFTEN.

READ THIS. PLEASE.

Guys this is EXTREMELY important and quite accurate please read/reblog

also please don’t try to ground them if they tell you they do not want your help

I dissociate very often and others trying to ground me has never helped. I find that coping with the dissociation is more helpful than attempts at grounding by others (which can get annoying and feel pushy). over time I’ve learned to dissociate more safely—so I generally know what I’m doing, where I am (usually), etc. but I’ll still say awkward things and make bad decisions because I don’t feel like I’m there or I’m not entirely aware of what’s going on.

it’s different for everyone, just make sure to also ask before attempting to ground someone.

This is very helpful, but please remember that there are many types of dissociation and they don’t all look like this.
